Margie’s Story

In 1995, Margie Huggard opened her storefront in Osterville, originally called Margo’s Practically Unusual, as a destination for design, inspiration, and delightfully unexpected finds. With a love for curating one-of-a-kind pieces and an eye for mixing the new with the well-loved, the shop quickly became a beloved fixture in town. Now, three decades later, it remains a vibrant part of the community.

What began as a charming retail boutique filled with whimsical gifts, home accessories, and artful décor has since evolved into a full-service design studio. Today, clients and shoppers alike can explore an ever-changing collection – from exquisite wallpaper and fabric books to lighting solutions that bring rooms to life.

Furnishing an entire home, refreshing a favorite space, adding a splash of color with custom pillows, or finding the perfect gift for a dear friend, the experience at Margo’s Home invites you to discover, dream, and be inspired.

Margie Huggard

Owner & Design Lead

Having years of experience with art, textiles, and design, it was a perfect segway to become involved in Interior Design.

Back in the 1980s, I manufactured an expensive line of children’s clothing, specializing in infant and toddler sizes. Mixing color and patterns was a natural way to bring excitement and style to my creations. The clothing was mix and match and had a whimsical style that was unusual.

Always interested in art and design it was natural for me to bring that to Interior Design. In 1995, after making a decoupage plate, the rest is history. The need for a different type of retail store had me open Margo’s, where I could bring this same mixing of patterns to the home. It wasn’t long before I was designing the interiors of homes on Cape and Boston. It was a natural process for me to enjoy creating homes that are beautiful yet functional while keeping the homeowners taste in mind.

“I had many ideas and Margie integrated what I liked into what her vision of our home should be. She was very accommodating and open to my thoughts. She had many resources at her disposal. The staff at the shop, the upholsterer, wallpaper expert, decorative painter for the walls and another for pieces of furniture were all excellent.”
